Regent High School

Year 6-to-Year 7 transition

We know that the transition from primary school to secondary school is one of the biggest changes you will have experienced.  We also know, though, that it is one of the most exciting changes that you will make.

Moving to secondary school provides you with an opportunity to learn interesting new things, make more friends and to take part in activities that could well lead you to a particular study or career route.

We always look forward to welcoming our new Year 7s, and we'll be providing some resources on this page to help with your transition to Regent High School.  Remember to check this page from time-to-time to look at the resources and to get to know Regent High School.

Most importantly, start to think of all the exciting things that await you at your new school, and what you will do to be as successful at Regent High School as you can.

Welcome letter to pupils

You can read our recent welcome letter to our new Year 7 pupils here.

Start of term in September

The first day of term for our new Year 7 students will be Thursday 3 September.  Read Mr Moore's recent letter to find out more about the arrangements for September.

Our transition programme

Our transition programme consists of five key elements that help us to be as ready as possible for our new students in September.  We want to ensure that transition is as smooth, fulfilling and successful as possible.

  • Year 6 teachers and SENDCos put together information for us about each pupil coming to Regent High School.
  • Our transition team meets with every school to talk about the pupils coming to us.
  • Parents/carers complete an online enrolment and induction process.
  • Pupils will be provided with a range of online orientation activities, including videos from key staff and an introduction to their new school.  This replaces the face-to-face Essential Induction Visits that we are not able to hold.
  • Year 7 students start before all our other students in September to help them with settling in and meeting more staff.

Transition team

We have a dedicated transition team who will work with you, your families and your primary schools to get ready for you starting in September.  The team comprises:

  • Mr Harrison, Director of Community Engagement.  Mr Harrison works with all of our primary schools and leads the transition process each year.
  • Mr Ojo, Acting Head of Year 7.  Mr Ojo is excited to be leading Year 7 in September and will be trying to get to know as many pupils as possible.
  • Ms Lennon, Head of Support for Learning and SENDCo.  Ms Lennon looks after students who need additional support in school.

Meet the Year 7 team

The Year 7 team is very much looking forward to meeting you, and have recorded some videos to introduce themselves to you.  Watch the videos and listen out for their top tips.

Take a tour of your new school

Students from Years 7 and 8 have created a series of videos to show you inside your new school.  Watch the videos to find out about the subjects we teach and where the lessons take place.

Advice from our current Year 7s

Our fantastic current Year 7 students have provide loads of advice to help you to settle into life at Regent High School.  Take a look at their advice to help you with your first few weeks in your new school.

Handbooks

Our student and parent/carer handbooks have been updated ready for you to start in September.  Read the student handbook and the parent/carer handbook to prepare as fully as possible for September.

Summer activities

We want to get to know you, to know what you find interesting, what you can do, and what you want to get out of your time at Regent High School.

We have set you a series of activities to do over the six weeks of the summer holiday.  They will help you to think about your first day in September, as well as to share with your tutors what makes you special.

We don't mind if you do the activities on this Word document, or use paper and pens, as long as you take some time to complete the activities ready for September.

Enrolment

Parents and carers should have received e-mails from Operoo - formerly known as CareMonkey - asking you to verify your account and giving you access to our online enrolment portal.

If you haven't received these e-mails, please check your spam folder first.  If the e-mails aren't there, contact us on enquiries@regenthighschool.org.uk or 020 7387 0126.
