Reporting an absence
If your child is unable to attend school due to illness, please inform us by 8:30am using one of the following methods:
- Online via Edulink
- By email: attendance@regenthighschool.org.uk
- By phone: 020 7121 1630
When reporting an absence, please provide:
- Your child’s full name
- Their tutor group
- The reason for absence
If your child is absent for more than one day, please contact us daily to provide an update.
If we do not hear from you, we will contact you via text message and/or phone call. If you receive a message from us, please respond immediately as we may have safeguarding concerns.
Unexplained absences will be recorded as unauthorised, and persistent unauthorised absence may be reported to the local authority.
Medical and Other Appointments
Where possible, medical and dental appointments should be scheduled outside of school hours. If this is unavoidable, please inform us in advance using the methods above and provide:
- Date and time of the appointment
- Reason for absence
- Supporting evidence (e.g. appointment letter or text confirmation, where required)
Exceptional Leave Requests
Schools are not permitted by law to authorise holidays during term time. In the case of an emergency or exceptional circumstance, you must contact the school as soon as possible to request leave.
All exceptional leave requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis, but approval is at the discretion of the Headteacher in line with government regulations.
Supporting Attendance
We are committed to supporting students and families to maintain excellent attendance. If you have any concerns about your child’s attendance, please contact their Head of Year or the Attendance Team, and we will be happy to help.
However, persistent low attendance may lead to further intervention, including fixed penalty notices.
Punctuality
Students should arrive on time every day, ready for learning. If a student is late, they must sign in at the school office and provide a reason for their lateness. Students should arrive to school for 8.40am, for a prompt start to lessons at 8.45am.
If you know in advance that your child will be late for a legitimate reason, please inform us by calling the absence line on 020 7121 1630.
If you have any questions regarding attendance or punctuality, please contact the Attendance Team at attendance@regenthighschool.org.uk
