Background information
Regent High School is an 11-19 co-educational secondary school of over 1000 students located in Somers Town in the London Borough of Camden. A majority of students are from a minority ethnic background, with 43.84% of students being of Bengali heritage, 16.9% of Black Somali heritage, and a further 26 different ethnic backgrounds being represented in the student body.
The school opened its new, £25 million building in April 2015, and now boasts some of the most advanced learning spaces available.
The Governing Body comprises 17 members from a range of backgrounds including the parent body, staff body, the Local Authority and the local community. Several members of the Governing Body work at organisations with which the school has a close relationship. The mix of skills and experience is strong and is reviewed regularly to ensure that the Governing Body is able to fulfil its strategic role.
In addition to their membership of the Full Governing Body (FGB), governors are members of one of the following committees:
L&A: Learning and Achievement committee (SLT links: Deputy Headteacher (Teaching and Learning) and Deputy Headteacher (Behaviour and Wellbeing))
RPL: Resources and Partnerships for Learning committee (SLT links: School Business Leader and Director of Community Engagement)
The Governing Body's Terms of Reference describe the roles of the Full Governing Body and its committees.
Some governors also hold additional responsibilities, which are detailed in the table following.
The table below details governors’ declared interests. Such interests may include business, pecuniary and material interests, and any personal relationships between governors and with members of staff, including spouses, partners and relatives.
Governors can be contacted via the Clerk to Governors, Paula Reed, by emailing governors@regenthighschool.org.uk or by calling 020 7387 0126.
